Brickanta joins Silicon Valley’s Y Combinator — raised SEK 5M pre-incorporation

Brickanta launches as Sweden’s next Y Combinator company. Admitted early in July and supported by SSE Business Lab, with SEK 5M secured before company registration. The waitlist is now open for more construction and real estate companies.

Stockholm, 30 September 2025 — Brickanta AI announces its official launch as Sweden’s next Y Combinator company, admitted early in July before the application deadline, and also supported by the Stockholm School of Economics’ SSE Business Lab. Following strong summer momentum with our first partner customers in construction and real estate development, we’re opening up for onboarding more builders.
Why now
Construction is one of the world’s largest yet least digitized industries, representing around ten percent of GDP in Sweden and the EU. The sector loses more than SEK 111 billion annually to errors and inefficiencies, according to Sweden’s National Board of Housing (Boverket). We’re building Brickanta to address that problem and bring the number down to zero.
What Brickanta is launching
Brickanta turns requirements, drawings, standards and regulations into searchable, AI-audited material so that critical details don’t slip through the cracks. The goal is faster, safer estimating and stronger bids — with clear traceability from each decision back to its source.
Voices from people behind the AI
– “Although we’ve often been told many times that the construction and real estate sector is conservative and digitally behind, I’ve never found it easier to strike up conversations with people at all levels. The response has been fantastic. We started Brickanta to address a major societal problem that is, at its core, a data problem – exactly the kind of challenge AI was made to solve,” said Lucas Otterling, co-founder and CEO of Brickanta AI.
– “I’ve seen how the tool improves literally every day. For me, Brickanta – alongside Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word – is all I need for cost estimation, bids, and project management. By proactively identifying just one variation order (extra or unplanned work that drives up costs) per project, we’ve already achieved a positive ROI on our investment.” said Oliver Robsham, CEO of SPV Group.
Opening the waitlist – rapid growth ahead
Brickanta has also been accepted into exclusive AI startup programs with Microsoft, Google, and OpenAI. Part of the team will spend the fall in Silicon Valley, while others will work closely with construction partners across Sweden and then more European countries. From day one, the company has brought in external data security expertise, and several new team members will be joining this fall.
– “Our team has worked with AI in other data-heavy industries, where we quickly recognized the same patterns of inefficient workflows – patterns AI is uniquely positioned to improve. We are building a platform designed to scale globally, with construction cost estimation as the first vertical,” said Linus Bein Fahlander, co-founder and CTO of Brickanta AI.
