The Code of Conduct Steering Our Decisions as We Grow

Insight

Brickanta builds agentic AI for construction, an industry that shapes the places where people live and work for decades. When your technology helps decide what goes into a bid, how a contract is read, or where risk sits in a project, the standard you hold yourself to matters as much as the product you ship. So we wrote down how we act in a code of conduct. It gives us a shared reference for the moments where the right call is not obvious.

Why write it down now

We are still early. It would be easy to treat ethics as something to formalise later, once there are more people and more process. We think that gets the order wrong. The habits a company forms at fifteen people are the ones it carries at a hundred and fifty. Writing our principles down while the team is small means everyone joins with the same understanding, and the standard does not drift as we scale.

The code is short by design. It cannot answer every situation, and it is not meant to. What it gives us is a way to reason: act in accordance with the law and our values, discuss the hard calls with colleagues, and choose the option you would be comfortable explaining openly to family or friends. Where the law is stricter than our code, we follow the law. Where our code is stricter, we follow the code.

What it actually covers

The code runs across the areas you would expect from a company handling sensitive commercial data in a high-stakes industry. Anti-bribery and fair competition. Conflicts of interest and anti money-laundering. A safe, inclusive workplace, and a clear rejection of child labour and forced labour anywhere our work reaches, including the construction sites our technology serves. Environmental responsibility, in an industry that consumes materials and energy at scale.

Two sections carry particular weight for a company like ours. On data, we handle personal and customer information in line with the GDPR: we collect only what we need, keep it no longer than necessary, and never use customer data to train language models or share it between customers. Our information security is certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and independently audited.

The second is responsible AI. Our products act on behalf of people in a physical industry, so we hold ourselves above what the law alone requires. A human stays in control of consequential decisions. We are transparent about what our AI does and where its limits are. And every finding traces back to its source, the document, the page, the passage, because a risk flag a lawyer cannot check or an estimator cannot price is worth nothing on a real project.

The point of a code

A code of conduct is only as good as the decisions it shapes. We treat it as a living reference, revisited as we learn and as the company changes. It sits alongside our other policies and our Trust Center, and it belongs to everyone here rather than to a compliance function.

We build for society builders. Holding ourselves to a clear standard is part of earning the right to do that work.

See our Trust Center for more information about our internal procedures and documents.
