"The cost of standing still", a new report by Newground and Brickanta, puts a number on the Swedish construction sector's productivity problem: 164 billion SEK in lost value creation every year. Since 1980, construction productivity has grown just 18 percent – compared to 280 percent in manufacturing. The report points to AI as a key part of the answer: not replacing people, but freeing up the 35 percent of working time currently lost to non-productive tasks.
